Buchhorn from Eickel to Canton, Ohio, USA
The ship "Thuringia" arrived the harbour of New York on November 27, 1923. The emigrant Karl Buchhorn from Eickel in Germany was on board.
Karl Buchhorn was 37 years old, was born in Neuendorf (Preußisch-Eylau/East-Prussia) on Apr 2, 1886 and was married.
His wife Auguste, a born Sadowski, and his children stayed longer in Germany and lived in Wanne in Heidstreet 47. Auguste was born in Eckersberg (Johannisburg/East-Prussia) on Sept 23, 1897. She arrived New York with her daughter with the ship "Albert Ballin" on March 10, 1925.
Karl's target was his brother in law Gustav Sakel, who lived in Canton in Ohio in 1/12 Edward Street. Which brother in law he was is a puzzle because Auguste was a born Sadowski.
Also Karl established his life in Canton. He got a job from the Republic Steel Corporation, where he worked until his retirement.

Erna died following a long illness on July 31, 1933. She was 19 years old. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church as the whole family was. She was also a member of the "Einigkeit" singing society.
Johanna, she was born in Tiegenhof near Elbing/West-Prussia on May 13, 1910, married Mr. Edward O. Miller on Oct. 29, 1939. She had a son who was called Edward K. Miller. Johanna passed away on October 14, 1993.
Karl, who married Auguste on March 28, 1910, passed away on the way into the hospital and was due to a heart attack on December 28, 1969.
Auguste passed away a few month before Karl also due to a heart attack on March 03, 1969. The whole family is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton.
My friend Tony Buchhorn from Australia is a very diligent church-record reader. He found the German family of Karl.
Karl Buchhorn, his full name was Karl Franz Buchhorn, was born in Neuendorf, Preußisch-Eylau, Ostpreußen on April 02, 1886. It is already mentioned at the beginning of this page. His parents were Friedrich Buchhorn and Friederike Schulz. Beside Karl did they have 2 further children. August Buchhorn, Karl's older brother, was born in Eichhorn on February 25, 1880. Karl's twin sister was Anna Elisabeth und was also born on April 02, 1886. I am sure Tony will find more about them.
